Hello! My name is Valerie J Dana and I was born and raised in central PA where I spent 40 years of my life until I finally moved to favorite state, NC. I not yet in the city I wish to live the rest of my life, but I’m six hours closer than I used to be.
Since I was 7 years old I dreamed of being an Author. I remember typing up my first short story on my mom’s typewriter. The story was strangely enough inspired by The Night of the Living Dead, only in my story my neighborhood friends and I were running from zombies.
It didn’t stop there!
All through junior high and high school I would fill notebook after notebook with stories I came up with. I would then share those stories with two of my best friends who also wrote. It was our own little writing group. We would write a couple chapters, exchange notebooks and leave our own feedback. One of those friends still does this with me today. In fact she’s become my most trusted editor.
Life got in the way after school, but the dream was always there. I still wanted to one day write a Best Selling novel. And although I’m not quite there yet, I did publish my debut novel on my 40th birthday. The novel itself based off the only story I wrote and finished in high school. I changed a lot of it, but the concept remained the same.
It’s been two years since that novel was released in May of 2023. And my writing style has drastically improved since then. Hidden World: Blood & Magick is currently still available in paperback and on KU, I have considered pulling it to give it a complete overhaul and give my readers the best version on the story. The version they deserve.
I have also been working on two upcoming novels; Wyvern King and one yet to be titled. I was hoping to have Wyvern King out by now, but life got in the way as I also work a full-time job. If everything goes as planned I hope to release it by the end of 2025.
Writing isn’t the only thing I’m working on. I have currently been doing research to put together a Podcast dealing with mental health, domestic violence, neurodivergence, being an introvert, and surviving trauma. It will deal with personal experiences within these areas as well as bringing guests to share their own experiences and what has worked for them.
I have other dreams and goals related to writing and helping those struggling with mental health issues know they aren’t alone. But we’ll save that for another day!
